How to Lexile a School Library

Last Updated: May 10, 2012 10:13AM EDT
We offer access to the Lexile Titles Database for free to educators. The database contains Lexile measures for tens of thousands of books from hundreds of publishers and is available free of charge to schools and libraries. We provide two separate databases: one for English titles and one for Spanish titles. The database download will return a large .txt file that can be integrated into your system. A sample of this file is located here<http://lexile.com/m/uploads/titles_database/LexileTitlesSAMPLE.txt>;. Because our Titles Databases come as tab-delimited text files, it takes some integration on your end of things. It is beneficial to have IT support on your end as it is often necessary.

Additionally, there are a number of library partners available to assist you with this data integration. You can find these resources here: http://www.lexile.com/using-lexile/lexile-at-library/library-catalog-automation-partners/.

If you'd like to gain access to the Titles Database, please request access by following the steps below.
1) Log in to your Lexile.com account (If you have not yet registered on the site, you will need to do so)
2) Click on My Profile at the top of the page
3) In the My Tools section located in the middle right of the page, click on the Request Access link next to the Lexile Titles Download.

Once you have requested access, a MetaMetrics representative will be in contact with you for next steps.
