My son who is 10 y/o has a Lexil Range of 1095 -1245. He is very bright but is only in 5th grade. I need some book recommendations that are at a higher level but with maturity and content that isn't too heavy/in depth for him to understand and/or be exposed to. How can I figure out books that wont be too advanced in content but challenging for him?
Thank you for your interest in The Lexile Framework® for Reading!
You can find books that are within your son’s Lexile Range by using our Find a Book site. Our “Find a Book” (http://www.lexile.com/fab/) search allows an individual to create custom reading lists with books within his Lexile range and by interest level. The “Find a Book” search also helps one locate the books on the reading lists by providing links to WorldCat, which shows the closest library where the book can be found, or a link where the book can be bought at Barnes & Noble (if B&N carries the title).
To find every book within the Lexile range of 1100L-1250L, use the Find a Book search by entering this range in the “Range” section, clicking “Continue”, then selecting “All Categories” and clicking “Search.” This search criteria should show every book within the 1100-1250 range. You can also narrow your search by selecting a one or more categories.
As an alternative, you could visit: (http://www.lexile.com/fab/) and select 5th grade from the drop-down and select the “I find books I read for school easy”. From here you can narrow your search by categories.
